How to Change the settings in Home Inverter/UPS| Su-Kam Falcon+

Today we will understand the back panel of
Su-Kam pure sine wave home UPS Falcon+. There are four models available in Falcon+ – Falcon+
750,900,1100 and 1600. In the back panel of Falcon+ 750 and Falcon+ 900 for UPS protection,
there is AC fuse and resettable fuse. In Falcon+ 1100 and Falcon+ 1600, MCB is provided. Apart
from this, to carry out different settings, dip switch is provided which has six switches.
There are mains AC input, battery connection wire and output socket to connect the load.
To sense ambient temperature, there is a temperature sensor port as well where we will connect
temperature sensing wire. First we will understand two protection fuses in Falcon+ 750 and 900.
Falcon+ 750 has 6 amp resettable fuse and 900 has 7 amp resettable fuse. In the condition
of mains available if the load connected in the system output goes in overload condition,
then in this case a fuse in a normal inverter gets damaged and inverter stops working. After
that, you need to call an electrician or an engineer and to get the inverter in normal
condition, it takes time. Keeping this problem in consideration, Falcon+ has been provided
with resettable fuse. In this fault condition, the resettable fuse in Falcon+ comes out or
MCB trips and mains LED starts to blink fast. After removing the fault condition, you won’t
need to wait for an electrician or engineer. You can reset the mains MCB or resettable
fuse and the system starts working normally. If this resettable fuse gets damaged or stops
working, then another protection fuse in Falcon+ will protect your inverter. Due to double
protection, Falcon+ is India’s safest and smartest inverter. There is a 6.3 amp AC glass
fuse provided in Falcon+ 750 and in Falcon+ 900, 8 amp glass fuse is provided. Now let’s
assume in the condition of mains available, there is a short circuit in system’s output.
In this case, AC glass fuse gets damaged and protects your UPS or MCB trips. Now we will
understand the working of dip switch in Falcon+. In a normal inverter according to your backup
need, you cannot choose battery size because in a normal inverter, battery charging ampere
is fixed. This means that if your inverter has 15 amp charging fixed, then it becomes
necessary for you to connect a 150 AH battery only with the inverter. If you need less backup
or more backup, then only you will have to connect a 150 AH battery which will give you
fixed hours of backup. People who want 10 to 15 minutes of backup time, if they will
connect 150 AH battery, then connecting a big battery will lead to only money wastage.
Falcon+ lets you choose the battery size according to your backup need. You can connect 18 AH
to 200 AH battery easily with Falcon+. This choice is in your hands now. Due to this feature,
Falcon+ is India’s smartest and most intelligent pure sine wave home UPS. With the help of
dip switch, you can choose battery charging ampere. Dip switch 1,2 and 3 are for selecting
four different battery charging amperes – 2.5 amp, 5 amp, 10 amp and 15 amp. If you want
only 10 to 15 minutes backup time, then you can connect 30 AH battery with Falcon+. To
charge a 30 AH battery, maximum 2.5 amp charging current is required. To set 2.5 amp, you need
to put the dip switch 1 towards left. If you want more backup time, then you can go for
a 50 AH battery. To charge a 50 AH battery, 5 amp charging current is required which you
can set with the help of dip switch 2 by putting it towards left. For more backup time if someone
wants to put a 120 AH battery in their home, then 10 amp charging current is required which
can be done by putting dip switch 3 towards left. For more backup time, you can add 200
AH battery with Falcon+ which will require 15 amp current to charge. Setting for this
can be done by putting dip switch 1,2 and 3 towards right. If you have set all dip switch
1,2 and 3 towards left, then automatically the least charging value will be set which
in this case is 2.5 amp. Similarly if you set dip switch 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 or 3 and
1 towards left, then least charging current value will be set. This default setting is
provided for protection in Falcon+ so that any battery connected to Falcon+ doesn’t get
overcharged and the inverter and battery are protected. If you have set dip switch 1,2
and 3 towards left, then automatically 2.5 amp battery charging current will be set in
Falcon+. Next dip switch setting is Low Voltage Disconnect. With the help of dip switch 4,
low voltage disconnect setting can be done in Falcon+. As we just understood, a 12V battery’s
boost voltage is 14.4V and a battery’s low voltage disconnect is usually 10.5V. This
means as the battery voltage becomes 10.5V, then battery stops providing backup and the
load stops running. 10.5V is set so that the battery doesn’t go in deep discharge mode
but if we continuously discharge the battery to 10.5V, then the battery life reduces and
it takes time to charge the battery and the electricity bill also goes high. Keeping these
problems in consideration, there are two low voltage disconnect settings in Falcon+ – 10.5V
and 11V. To set 10.5V, you will have to set dip switch 4 towards left and to set 11V,
you will have to set dip switch 4 towards right. Next dip switch setting is Battery
Type. If you have connected LA battery type with Falcon+, then you will select dip switch
5 towards left and if the battery type is tubular or dry SMF, then dip switch 5 will
be selected towards right. Next dip switch setting is UPS and wired UPS mode. If you
want to connect IT load like computer, modem or printer to Falcon+, then you will select
dip switch 6 towards UPS mode. In this mode, Falcon+ acts like a UPS. UPS means uninterrupted
power supply. In UPS mode, all the IT loads in your house won’t let the system reboot
in mains fail condition and the IT load will run non-stop. If you want to run normal load
like TV, fan or lights, then you will select dip switch 6 towards wired UPS mode.
