Even before the official commercialization
of 5G networks, one of South Korea’s tech giants, LG Electronics has teamed up with
a national research university to launch a 6G research lab. LG Electronics on Monday opened its 6G research
center at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in Daejeon, 140 kilometers
south of Seoul, as an early move to lead the future mobile communications technology — especially
the transition from 5G. LG’s CTO, at the opening ceremony, said the
firm will bolster its ICT research so it can lead the global standardization of the technology
and create new jobs.
