The One Minute Better Mindset Technique

Hey everyone! Glenn here from Mindovermenieres.com. I wanted to make this video today to
teach you a really simple and quick technique that you can use any time
you’re feeling stressed or anxious or sad or depressed or having a bad day. And
it can really quickly flip the script and bring you into a more positive
and balanced emotional state. The technique only takes a minute or
two and it was originally developed by an organization called HeartMath. Now
HeartMath studies the connection between the brain and the heart and designed this
technique to bring your thoughts and your emotions into a state of more
balanced alignment. So it’s really simple and i will walk you through it. So first I want you to get comfortable.
Sit down somewhere and get comfortable. You can pause the video for a moment if
you need to. Once you’re comfortable I want you to close your eyes. Now the
first thing I want you to do is focus your attention into the center of your
chest. It can help to tap with your fingers a
couple times in the center of your chest to bring your focus in your attention to
that point. Now I want you to start to breathe a little bit deeper than you
normally do and as you’re breathing I want you to imagine that each inhale is
flowing into that point in the center of your chest. And as you exhale, the air
is flowing out of that point in the center of your chest. Now this is fairly simple to do in your imagination. It doesn’t have to be perfect so just start now. Breathe in and imagine the air is flowing into
that point in the center of your chest and as you breathe out imagine the air is flowing out of that
point in the center of the chest. So start doing that now. You want to get a nice rhythm going. Breathe in to that point in the center of your
chest. Breathe out of that point in the center of your chest. Breathe into the point in
the center of your chest. Breathe out of that point in the center of your chest. Do this a
few more times. Now the next step while you continue to
breathe like this is to activate a positive feeling. Now you can do this in
several different ways but the easiest is to recall a memory. Recall a time when
you felt a really deep sense of love and appreciation and gratitude, and really
bring that memory into your imagination as vivid as you can. Feel that memory.
Feel that feeling again. And all the while continue to breathe
into that point in the center of your chest and out of that point in the center
of your chest. It can help to think about someone you
really care about. Maybe your child or pet or a very close friend, and and try
to really think about how you feel about that person and hold on to that feeling. I want you to keep breathing in and out
of your chest and do this for about another 30 seconds or so. A couple more. And that is the entire technique! It’s
that simple. You can do this technique anytime,
anywhere. You can do this sitting or standing, with your eyes open or closed,
and it can really help to turn your day around if you’re having a hard day, if
you’re struggling, or feeling stress or anxiety. So
that’s all for now I hope everyone is feeling better and I will see you all
soon!

  1. Thank you! It is good to see your technique. I do breathing exercises now to calm down but often we forget and tend to "hold the breath" when stressed or tense! Maralyn
